The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek PhD Faculty to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

We are seeking a motivated and accomplished scholar for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position focused on liquid biopsy research, including the study of exosomes, extracellular RNAs, and cell-free DNA (cfDNA). The successful candidate will leverage expertise in computational biology, epigenetics, and bioinformatics to develop innovative biomarkers for cancer detection, disease monitoring, and personalized medicine. With a strong background in both genetic and epigenetic data analysis, the ideal candidate will integrate multi-omics approaches to address key challenges in cancer biology and translate these findings into clinical applications.

The candidates research portfolio should demonstrate high-impact publications, successful industry collaborations, and experience developing diagnostic tools, such as novel methylation-based assays or biomarker panels. The successful candidate should possess strong technical expertise in advanced bioinformatics pipelines and environments (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow). Practical experience in applying machine learning to cancer genomics will be highly valued. This position provides opportunities to lead collaborative projects, contributing to advancements in liquid biopsy technologies and precision oncology.

In addition to research, the candidate will be expected to mentor students and postdoctoral researchers, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment that supports interdisciplinary work. Teaching responsibilities will include graduate-level courses in bioinformatics, cancer genomics, or computational biology. The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline, with demonstrated expertise in genetic and epigenetic data analysis, biomarker discovery, and translational research.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assistant Professor, Associate Professor of Professor to serve as a member of the Division of Medical Oncology within the Department of Internal Medicine; embarks on a program of research in the specialty of immunology and microbiome; obtains external research funding; participates in the academic commitments of the division and department. Minimum Education Required Doctorate (Professional) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biological sciences.

Requirements
Doctoral degree in Pharmacology and Therapeutics or related area required; extensive research experience (5 years minimum) required; prior track record of publications required; experience in signaling and methylation of experimental therapeutics desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) orother terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
