IT Business Systems Analyst

Position Summary:

This role serves as the technology business partner for Commercial and Medical Affairs to support, solution and implement innovative processes, systems, and systems improvements to promote overall organizational efficiency and effectiveness. The role will be responsible for business relationships, business requirements, business process definition/documentation, and system support management.

Position will work with all levels of the business including business partners, technology teams, and external vendors. This position will focus on understanding business needs, system solutioning, business process documentation and business requirements, implementing and supporting Commercial and Medical Affairs solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Represent IT as the business analyst and technical SME across the Commercial and Medical Affairs business functional areas.
  • Partner with Commercial and Medical to understand business needs and identify solutions that align to overall business strategies. Review, analyze and evaluate business systems and user needs.
  • Responsible for business systems consulting, project planning, prioritization, and implementation of deliverables, including implementations and operations.
  • Develop process documentation (current and to-be).
  • Document system, functional and business requirements, and objectives for business initiatives.
  • Technical SME for system activities for the system(s), enhancements, and integration projects. Coordinates support activities across vendor(s).
  • Interfaces with external vendors at all levels to manage the relationship and ensure the proper delivery of services.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues and system issues.
  • Provide IT system support, including vendor operational and maintenance and oversight to the vendor's SLAs.


Education, Registration & Certification:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, or related disciplines required.


Experience:



  • Experience with business process development and gap analysis, and business process mapping efforts.
  • Experience in working with software vendors for support and maintenance.
  • Experience designing, deploying and maintaining cloud-based applications.
  • Experience with Veeva Vault MedComms, PromoMats, and CRM is highly preferred, as well as other commercial, medical education and collaboration platforms.
  • Strong Commercial and Medical Affairs business acumen.
  • 5+ years in a pharmaceutical/biotech or related environment required.

  • Ability to communicate and work independently with cross-functional/inter-departmental teams and within the framework of the IT organization.
  • Understanding of technical IT issues to enable discussions with internal and external technical specialist.
  • Ability to create and build strong business partnerships across the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applications.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:



  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets. This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Travel Requirements:



  • Up to 20% travel expected.
