Duties of a Radiology Patient Care Coordinator may include the following but are not limited to:




  • Receive patients in the Radiology Department for exams and procedures and perform all duties associated with the throughput of patients including scheduling of exams and procedures in RIS, CERNER, Surginet and other systems required.



  • Perform other duties as assigned to include but not limited to, statistical data collection, maintenance of quality databases, customer service, obtain authorizations for exams and procedures.


  • Upload CD exams from outside organizations to Life Imaging / PACS system and duplicate exams as needed on CD's for patients, physicians, and other customers.

  • Interact with patients, visitors, staff, physicians, members of the regulatory agencies and community.


  • Answer the department's telephone in a timely and courteous manner while demonstrating a willingness to help at all times. Verify all patient information and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Perform all tasks as assigned to include but not limited to, organization of all exams and related paperwork, printing schedules, printing reports, maintaining the exam integrity in the RIS system and PACS system.
  • Act as liaison for the Radiology Department and other hospital departments and services. Positively represent the department at meetings and events.

  • Maintain equipment such as printer and fax machines and immediately report any malfunctions.




The selected candidate will be required to work rotating holidays.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Associate's degree and at least 1 year of experience in a medical/healthcare setting and/or customer service experience or, in lieu of degree, at least 3 years of experience in a medical/healthcare setting and/or customer service experience. Critical Thinking and problem-solving skills, with excellent organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail. Ability to work as an efficient team member and have superior written and expressive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Radiology experience. Knowledge of hospital computer systems (Imagecast and Cerner EWS). Knowledge of insurance & managed care requirements.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).


Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $43,372 - $52,020 / year.

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:



  • Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
