Job Description

Performs and provides oversight in the assessment and delivery of anesthesia procedures. Performs duties within the Scope of Practice of a Nurse Anesthetist. Ensures proper documentation is maintained as prescribed by the practice. Instructs nurse anesthesia students, medical students and medical residents in the fundamentals of anesthesia, anesthetic techniques, management of anesthesia equipment, and monitoring techniques. Participates in the design and development of the program curriculum, conducts clinical evaluations of students' performance, and performs general administrative tasks for the Anesthesia Department. Works independently with occasional direction or instruction.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree and BSN if MS is in a related science field with certification as a Nurse Anesthetist required or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications, and must be maintain in a current status.
  • Verbal communication skills required to counsel and explain procedures to patients, train staff members and communicate with other departments and organizations.
  • Maintain current Missouri license and advanced practice document of recognition.
  • Maintain current Nurse Anesthetist National Certification
  • Written communication skills required to prepare reports, and maintain records.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance. Lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance.
  • Skilled in all types of anesthetic techniques and be able to supervise and instruct students with varying levels of skills.
  • Doctorate in Nursing or Science related field is preferred
