Casual Staff - Sephardic Mashgicha

Position Summary:



The Sephardic Mashgicha will serve as a mentor and resource for the Sephardic students at the Beren Campus of Yeshiva University. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Torah and Spiritual Life at Stern College for Women, the Sephardic Mashgicha enhances the formal and informal learning opportunities for Sephardic students and also runs special programs, and provides personal mentorship specially oriented toward those students. Ultimately, the Sephardic Mashgicha helps to ensure that the Beren Campus continues to constitute a welcoming, intellectually stimulating, and spiritually enriching environment.



Position Responsibilities:




  • Meet with the Sephardic students at the Beren Campus on a regular basis to provide personal mentorship and guidance.
  • Hold 5-10 consultative hours in the Beren Campus Beit Midrash per week so as to be available to students seeking assistance, support, and mentorship.
  • Coordinate and implement extra- and co-curricular programming, including Chaburot (small learning groups) for the Sephardic community on the Beren Campus, in consultation with the campus rabbinic couples and other members of the faculty and professional staff.



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Minimum three years of experience in professional Jewish education and mentorship
  • Bachelor's degree or higher Jewish Studies or another relevant discipline
  • Strong knowledge of the Sephardic Jewish community and customs, as well as concerns that Sephardic students may face in a majority Ashkenazi community.
  • Strong familiarity with Hebrew/Jewish texts.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work 19 hours per week



Salary Range:



$52.63 - 52.63 per hour
