Regional Sales Director (South Central)

Apellis is seeking an experienced and talented business leader for the role of Regional Sales Director (RSD) - Systemic Franchise. This role represents an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact, leading the Account Managers through a franchise expansion and launch into Nephrology.

The RSD is a critical first-line leader, responsible for leading a team of customer-facing Account Managers. The RSD is accountable for meeting sales goals, establishing a strong region culture, and coaching and developing their people in line with the Apellis values.

To be successful, the RSD must be a strategic, resourceful, proactive, and nimble leader who can quickly work to enable their team's success - guiding planning, lowering barriers, and leveraging opportunities and resources. This role requires a commitment to collaboration with internal stakeholders to deliver on customer needs and exceed business goals.

This is a field position. This position reports to the National Sales Director.

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Provide strong leadership in the assigned geography, ensuring market penetration and share growth through oversight of the development and implementation of local sales business plans
  • Rigorously track regional performance, exploring new opportunities for accelerating impact and enhancing existing plans
  • Develop strong internal relationships and relationships with key customers or practices to successfully drive Apellis' business objectives
  • Continually educate self and team on market issues, trends, and product knowledge as it pertains to specific business issues which can impact product success
  • Manage region budget; plan and execute strategic spend
  • Provide region marketplace feedback in a timely manner to corporate leadership detailing customer business trends, competitive programs, and industry issues as well as insights regarding the Nephrology and Hematology practice environments to guide corporate activities
  • Attract, develop and retain top talent sales professionals preferably with Nephrology, Hematology, and/or rare disease experience
  • Build a strong team culture, aligned with the Apellis values, with an emphasis on development and coaching for direct reports
  • Ensure compliance with all Apellis and governmental policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Be open to creativity and innovation. Think outside of typical RSD role and pharma model to identify new opportunities for the team to achieve success in a challenging, competitive market
  • Participate and/or lead other projects as assigned by the National Sales Director (e.g., contributions to national sales meetings, learning plans, etc.)


Education, Registration & Certification:



  • BA/BS degree


Experience:



  • Minimum of 3+ years front line sales management and/or strategic account management, with 6+ years progressive pharma/related industry experience.
  • Proven experience in expanding and leading high-performing sales teams, driving success through product launches and growth initiatives.
  • Experience in Nephrology, Hematology, rare disease, solid organ transplant sales, and managing teams responsible for multiple indications is a plus.

  • Strong clinical acumen with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific data
  • Demonstrated integrity on the job, including an understanding and deep respect of relevant rules and regulations within the pharma sector
  • Self-motivated to take the initiative


Travel Requirements:



  • Willing to travel domestically up to 75% of the time and attend events outside of business hours (e.g., occasional weekends and evenings)
