Position Summary

The School of Law seeks an experienced and dedicated full-time Administrative Assistant 3 to join the Faculty Support team. This team works collaboratively to provide excellent administrative support to faculty engaged in duties related to their teaching, research, and other responsibilities.

Duties include:

  • Drafting, editing, and proofreading documents
  • Creating class lists, email groups, and seating charts
  • Editing syllabi and other class materials, updating course platforms, coordinating arrangements for class visitors, and proctoring exams
  • Supporting faculty committees and taking minutes at faculty meetings
  • Scheduling appointments, meetings, and events
  • Organizing, planning, and carrying out logistics for guest speakers, continuing legal education courses, and other unit events
  • Making travel arrangements and coordinating itineraries
  • Preparing, tracking, and processing credit card charges and expense reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Participating in the staffing rotation at the reception desk
  • Providing administrative and clerical support on a variety of projects as assigned.

The successful candidate will have a professional and personable demeanor, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a dependable attendance record, the ability to prioritize, be attentive to detail, and able to work cooperatively with others in an office environment. Weekend work is required for 2-4 events per semester, for which either compensatory time or overtime pay will be provided. Experience working in a legal services environment is a plus.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge or experience in one or more of these areas is a plus:

  • Excellent written communication
    skills
  • Experience with Banner Purchasing
    and LoboMart
  • Experienced in University of New
    Mexico administrative processes
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing
    staffing assignments, responsibilities, tasks, and feedback
