Director, SAP Solutions (Utilities)

Location: Hybrid - Newark, DE

Your role in our success:

The Director, SAP Solutions leads and manages SAP (IS-U) transformation programs efforts at different stages from Business Process Design to solution design, development deployment and support. The role will require extensive experience in SAP S/4 HANA Utilities (IS-U).

What you'll be working on:



  • Strategic leadership: Provides strategic direction for SAP projects to ensure alignment with business objectives and drives the adoption of best practices and process improvements.
  • Solution design: Oversees the design and implementation of SAP solutions and projects across areas like Customer Service, Device management, FICA, Billing and field service management.
  • Project oversight: Provides oversight and escalation support for all service provider platform and development operations.
  • Team management: Leads and manages a team of application analysts and other IT professionals including external vendors to support, troubleshoot and resolve SAP's IS-Utilities solution which can include: Customer Service/Front Office/C4C, Device Management, AMI, Billing, FI-CA, Cloud for Energy, Cloud for Utilities.
  • Vendor management: Manages relationships with external vendors and partners to stay current with SAP's roadmap and leverage optimized tools and system capabilities.
  • Process improvement: Identifies, assesses, and resolves business challenges using the full capabilities of implemented SAP solutions.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with various departments to integrate SAP applications and ensures smooth operation and support.
  • Production support: Monitors and manages incidents, changes, system performance, user support and Service level management (SLs). The role ensures that SAP solution remains reliable and capable of supporting the organizations' business processes effectively.


Who you are:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • Ten (10) years SAP experience in the Utilities Industry with a focus on the ISU solution (S/4 HANA Utilities) and meter-to-cash functionality. The required ten (10) years also includes:
  • Full-cycle implementation experience
  • Utility (Electricity/Water/Gas) Domain, with hands on technical and deployment experience of CIS & Billing Systems in SAP Utilities.
  • Five (5) years' experience of leading functional and technical teams working with consultants/SMEs and leading them through the project life cycle and support activities.
  • Valid Drivers license
  • Preferred:
    * SAP ISU solution/functional certifications
    * Knowledge/ certification of S4 HANA
    * PMP or comparable certification
    * ITIL for Service Delivery Management
  • Knowledge and understanding with implementing and supporting ERP, inventory management, supply chain and procurement, HRIS and other SAP modules
  • Exposure to US Regulated and De-Regulated Markets
  • Knowledge/experience in the Utilities Industry with in-depth industry expertise including the industry/digital/technology trends.
  • Knowledge of business processes and how they are supported by SAP systems
  • Technical expertise: Systems implementation skills and experience with all aspects of the system implementation including, but not limited to, gathering requirements, designing the future state solution, testing, change management and post implementation support.
  • Analytical skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation. Strong understanding of the needs of users and business units.
  • Communication: Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership: Self-driven individual that has the desire to solve problems and work with team members on designing solutions to enhance the services we provide to our customers.
  • Ability to absorb information about internal customer needs, analyze and implement recommendations.
