We are seeking a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) Survey Director to oversee the current group in the Texas Mountain Region. The candidate can report out of an of our locations Round Rock, Dallas, Fort Worth, Midlothian, Frisco, Austin, Waco, Houston, San Antonio, Longview or Conroe, TX offices.

The Director of Survey is accountable for the development and execution of the Survey business plan for the fiscal year, and linkage to the field practice strategic plan to include the Texas Mountain Region's vision/mission.

Roles: Planning (near-long term), Organizing (task/resource management), Directing (leading/coaching/mentoring) and Controlling (accountability) and Marketing (selling/branding/networking)

Functions:

  • Lead Survey in the effort to market, develop and secure Survey contracts.
  • Accountable to meet/exceed staff utilization goals/timesheet oversight.
  • Accountable to meet/exceed revenue and sales goals.
  • Integrate and enforce safety standards into every part of the operation.
  • Mentor/Coach employees; design a professional development program. Grow key future surveyors with a goal to increase registered surveyors and SITs.
  • Provide operational updates per Field Practice standards.
  • Assist and manage accounts receivable (AR).
  • Manage equipment life cycle, replacement budgets, and implement sustainment standards.
  • Sustain morale and welfare of employees.
  • Communicate effectively with upper/lower teammates.
  • Design and develop the yearly Business Plan.
  • Meet/exceed Survey objectives and key results.
  • Represent the company at various meetings and/or serve on various committees, workgroups, and teams.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing and capable to manage public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups.
  • Be a team player, and display the virtues of integrity, loyalty, respect and strong work ethics.
  • Provide QA/QC as needed.
  • Coordinate with GIS and Geospatial Group.

Requirements:

  • The Registered Professional Land Surveyor must possess working experience with municipalities, counties and Private Developers.
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in Surveying is required.
  • Review the accuracy of all surveys and data and site plans, charts, maps, records and documents related to surveys, sign and seal survey documents and assist in developing procedures, systems and methods for project delivery.
  • TXDOT Project experience is preferred.
  • The candidate will be responsible for managing projects, survey staff, preparing scopes of work, pricing competitive proposals, and quality assurance / quality control.
  • The candidate must be registered in the State of Texas, have a strong knowledge in boundary analysis and resolution, topographic and construction surveys. Strong organizational, written, and verbal skills are required.
  • Ability to lead a successful project (on time, under budget, and accurate) team from kickoff to delivery while maintaining client satisfaction is critical to this position.
  • Technical capabilities should include proficiency with any one of the following: Microstation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center and/or Carlson Survey and Microsoft Office products are preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.

Compensation Range:

$140,810.99 - $187,747.98
