ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Chemical Plant Operator

SAFETY
* Keeps working area clean and orderly, follows all
company procedures and safety policies.
* Inspects manufacturing equipment on a daily basis
to ensure the safe operation of the chemical process.
* Keeps leak detection equipment, if required, in
good working order.

PRODUCTION
* Sets up and/or operates manufacturing process in
accord with published Work Instructions.
* Changes reactants, operates valves, controls, and
related items to obtain specified flow rates, temperatures and pressures
* Fills finished product into cylinders or
correlates filling with the Gas Filling Department.
* Performs general, preventative maintenance on gas
or chemical manufacturing equipment.
* Notifies supervisor when maintenance of equipment
requires greater expertise than he/she possesses.
* Recommends process and equipment changes as
needed.
* Maintains daily inventory production records.
* Controls inventory of raw material.
* Performs all other tasks as assigned by local
plant management.

QUALITY
* Adheres to all quality assurance policies and
standards.
* Recommends process changes to improve the
quality/purity of the products manufactured.
* Performs scale and instrument calibration checks
as required by The Company's quality system.
* Maintains run charts for performance of scales.
* Notifies Supervisor of quality assurance problems
* Collect samples for quality assurance testing and
perform various routine chemical analysis.

* Performs other
duties as assigned
* Complies with
all policies and standards
Pay
Rate: $27.00 to $29.00 per hour DOE

EXPERIENCE
Prior
pilot plant or production plant experience in the chemical, petroleum, food
processing, or pharmaceutical industries recommended
Prior
experience with handling, filling, manufacturing, disposing compressed gases is
very beneficial
Prior
experience with hazardous chemicals, such as air sensitive, flammable, reactive
and corrosive materials

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must
be able to perform mathematical exercises of moderate complexity
Conscientious
and common sense attitude toward safety due to position requirements of
handling a variety of hazardous materials is required
Good mechanical aptitude and hands on capability is required
Strong, able-bodied person
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Ability to handle compressed gas cylinders

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

First aid certification preferred
CPR preferred
HAZMAT certification preferred
