Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Summer Intern - Process Engineering - Water/Wastewater in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The position offers the opportunity to apply engineering (civil, mechanical, chemical , and environmental) academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) for a minimum of 13 to a maximum of 15 weeks during the summer of 2025. Candidates are responsible for coordinating their own transportation to and from the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Support engineering team and office staff with execution of detailed design packages for industrial, municipal, and remedial water and wastewater treatment projects;
  • Assist with preparation of engineering calculation packages using computer-based technical tools;
  • Technical writing of specifications, reports, memoranda, and plans;
  • Data input and analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Follow instructions and interact with engineers, geologists, office administrative staff, CADD designers and operators, contractors and construction personnel;
  • Potential for fieldwork such as wastewater, stormwater, and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections, and contractor oversight; and
  • Local travel or driving to project sites as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Currently registered in a Bachelor's or Master's university degree program for mechanical, civil, chemical, or environmental engineering at an ABET accredited university. (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant course work.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). (required)
  • Experience with Autodesk design software (AutoCAD, Plant3D, Civil3D). (preferred)
  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Ability to perform field work requiring overnight travel, which may last 1-2 weeks per assignment. (required)
  • Willingness to work extended hours (up to 10-12 hours per day) as part of a team during field work assignments. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory driving record for business travel to project sites. (strongly preferred)
