Georgia-Pacific Consumer Manufacturing Group is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Project Engineer role supporting the tissue and towel manufacturing operations at our Consumer Products Group Operation located in Zachary, LA. The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing engineering and technical aspects of projects within Georgia Pacific. This role involves working closely with teams across various departments to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. Our Team The Port Hudson Plant is located just north of Baton Rouge, LA and west of Zachary, LA. The Port Hudson mill employs about 350 people and has two tissue/towel paper machines and produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Georgia-Pacific brand names of Quilted Northern and Brawny. The Port Hudson facility uses integrated technology to manufacture tissue and paper towel products in a progressive production environment. The Gulf Coast is only an hour away and there is plenty of history in the area to explore as well. For urban activities, Baton Rouge and New Orleans are just a short drive away. What You Will Do * Embrace influential leadership to support the organization while advancing our Principle-Based Management (PBM) culture * Develop detailed project plans by working individually or with a team to finalize scopes, estimates, and justification support for projects, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design and functionality meet project requirements and ensure projects have a well-defined scope and objective up front * Form a complete project team as each project requires - including resources for accounting, receiving, construction, engineering, startup and training, process technical and operations * Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring engineering standards and best practices are adhered to * Act as a liaison between engineering, operations, and other departments * Facilitate communication and collaboration to ensure smooth project execution * Monitor and forecast project budgets, expenses, and resource allocations * Identify potential cost overruns and implement corrective actions as necessary * Ensure all project deliverables meet the required quality standards * Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain compliance with company and regulatory standards * Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies * Proactively address issues that may impact project timelines, costs, or quality * Maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide regular status updates to stakeholders * Prepare and present project reports and performance metrics, manage a portfolio of projects across several operating areas * Participate in rotating weekend duty Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Relevant experience in project engineering, project management, or a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing or industrial sectors * Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, process optimization methodologies, and process control techniques * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities * Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders * Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and adherence to project requirements What Will Put You Ahead * Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical) or a related field (or equivalent experience) * Three or more years of project management experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment * Experience in using project controls to allow oversight of a portfolio of projects * Experience within paper mill and/or converting manufacturing operations * Exceptional computer skills - Excel, Ecosystem, SAP, Microsoft Project, etc.. * Professional certifications and/or understanding in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
