Summary:
The Application Engineering Manager for Aftermarket, provides technical guidance and supervision of their team, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and technical competence development while delivering a quality standard to make SKF the chosen technical partner for our customers. The AE Manager, Aftermarket will lead the team supporting end-users and distributors including the SKF Technical Hotline.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the overall performance of the team of application engineers including workload and resource allocation.
- Manage the technical competence and career development of the application engineers on product, application area, engineering tools, and professional skills.
- Ensure the highest level of technical support is provided to end-user and distributor customers, optimizing processes as needed.
- Establish clear performance expectations, providing regular feedback to address performance issues and providing coaching where needed.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team culture building on the SKF core values.
- Actively drive a customer-centric way of working to differentiate SKF at our customers.
- Proactively support the sales process with technical insights to help identify new customer opportunities, working in conjunction with Aftermarket Territory Managers and Industry Specialists.
- Support a full value chain knowledge/sales logic combining experiences from the End-user and OEM customer bases to fully leverage SKF's capabilities.
- Ensure SKF Quality standards and Application Engineering procedures are followed for all technical support tasks including risk assessment, calculations, bearing selection and recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement activities within the team and as part of the greater AE community.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure the team is delivering value to SKF.
- Provide voice of the customer support to the SKF technical community eg. regional and global engineering community, product lines, product design, manufacturing, and quality.
- Develop and drive a team strategy that is aligned with and supports the higher level SKF Americas strategy.
Qualifications:
- BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree
- 5+ years experience in application engineering
- Value-driven, customer-first mindset
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Project management and problem-solving skills
- Experience developing and driving strategy
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver results
- Willingness to travel as needed for customer visits, up to 30%
