Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning techniques in a residential environment in order to ensure that student housing areas are clean, orderly, and safe. Performs work in accordance with Institute safety standards and regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA).

Essential Job Duties

In coordination and cooperation with other trades, performs various cleaning support duties that include but are not limited to the following:



  • Clean and vacuum student rooms, sweep and mop floors and stairwells, dining rooms, lounges, and courtyards.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, showers, kitchens, drinking fountains, telephones and replenish supplies.
  • Dust, wash walls and polish furniture and horizontal surfaces.
  • Drives Institute vehicles to move equipment and cleaning supplies throughout Campus facilities.
  • Empty waste baskets and move trash containers by hand or cart to disposal areas.
  • Report problems and damages encountered through the course of work to supervisors.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications



  • Minimum of one year experience working in the custodial field (industrial, commercial, or residential).
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of cleaning supplies, trash, ladders, tables, vacuum cleaners, and other custodial equipment on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 10 ft. high as needed to perform regular custodial duties.
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time, push, pull, and stoop and bend to accomplish job duties throughout the day on a regular basis.
  • A valid California Driver's license or be able to obtain one before employment begins and maintain it throughout the course of employment. Must be able to drive Institute Vehicles under the Institute's Motor Vehicle Use policy and adhere to the policy.
  • Must be able to work assigned work hours Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when requested.


Preferred Qualifications



  • One or more years of professional custodial experience in an educational setting and/or in a commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of campus and building locations.

Hiring Range

$18.50 - $23.00 Per Hour

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
