Requisition ID req31702 Working Title Civil Rights Investigator and Trainer Position Grade 13 Position Summary The University of New Mexico's Office of Compliance, Ethics, and Equal Opportunity (CEEO) seeks a Compliance Specialist (Civil Rights Investigator and Trainer) ready to join a growing and busy office dedicated to protecting and ensuring the civil rights of all UNM community members. The successful candidate will be experienced in conducting sensitive investigations from start to finish, effectively interviewing parties and witnesses to an investigation, interpreting and analyzing policies, and providing technical advice in the areas of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action, Title IX, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and various other compliance areas. Responsibilities: * Independently identifying, gathering, and analyzing evidentiary information necessary to evaluate compliance issues * Conducting unbiased investigations of alleged civil rights discrimination and preparing investigative reports * Creating, developing, and delivering a range of promotional, educational, and informational programs, workshops, and resource materials related to CEEO program activities and initiatives * Interpreting, analyzing, and advising on the application of compliance and civil rights laws and regulations in an employment and academic setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and guidelines, and UNM policies and procedures The selected candidate must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a team player, and must be able to multi-task and handle confidential material in a professional manner. ** This position is a Term Assignment ** See the Position Description for additional information. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications * Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions. * Demonstrated ability to interview parties and witnesses in a professional, neutral, and trauma-informed manner. * Ability to interpret, analyze, and advise on the application of civil rights and compliance policies and regulations in the employment and academic settings. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. * Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and/or civil rights work. * Experience investigating concerns related to discrimination, failure to accommodate, Title IX, sexual harassment, or sexual assault. * Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops. * Ability to handle multiple tasks with time sensitive deadlines with minimal supervision. * Legal knowledge including paralegal or JD course work. * Bilingual (English/Spanish) Additional Requirements Campus Main - Albuquerque, NM Department Compliance Ethics & Equal Opp (016A) Employment Type Staff Staff Type Term - Full-Time Term End Date One year from start date Status Exempt Pay Monthly: $4,073.33 - $5,721.73 Benefits Eligible This is a benefits eligible position.
