The Career Development Specialist is a 12-month grant funded position that will service one or more of the VCU Health System areas including: Upper Middle Peninsula/ Northern Neck Virginia and Southside Virginia with additional support including Central Virginia. The career development specialist will meet with program participants throughout the first year of employment to identify and report barriers and increase retention. The career development specialists will also assist program participants with identifying career and educational goals and creating a career path.

Employment Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor's degree in education, Counseling, Human Resources, or a related field from an accredited program Preferred Education: Advanced Degree MBA or MHA Licensure/Certification Required:N/A Licensure/Certification Preferred:N/A Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience 3 years of experience establishing educational and career development activities, planning workforce development courses and curriculum, and creating and implementing a retention plan. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks & meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as demonstrated excellence and accuracy in communicating with both internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse workforce and student environment.
