As the Sr. Manager, Capacity Planning & Resource Management for Capital One's Marketing & Messaging Operations Organization, you will be instrumental in enhancing capacity planning and resource management. Your role will involve developing sophisticated capacity planning models, creating insightful reporting, and designing dashboards that facilitate effective decision-making for marketing delivery teams and strategy partners. By collaborating closely with client success leads, project management professionals and business partners, you will forecast and balance capacity, address staffing issues, and optimize resource allocation to align with marketing objectives and evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Capacity Planning & Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Capacity Planning Model for all planned and prioritized partner Portfolios and Programs of work, ensuring it accurately reflects anticipated workload and resource needs.

  • Assist the Marketing & Messaging Operations leadership in creating and implementing an Operational Planning forecast for delivery across all partner Portfolios of work.

  • Lead the capacity planning component of all partner Planning Meetings, presenting forecasts to enable effective prioritization of both planned and emergent activities.

Reporting & Dashboard Creation:

  • Design, develop, and maintain dynamic reporting and dashboards that provide clear visibility into capacity planning and resource management metrics. These reports and dashboards will be used by marketing delivery teams and strategy partners to make informed decisions.

  • Create detailed Capacity Planning reports that offer insights into current and future resource allocation, project status, and potential bottlenecks. Ensure these reports are tailored to meet the needs of various stakeholders, including marketing teams and senior leadership.

  • Continuously update and refine reporting tools and dashboards to reflect changes in project scope, resource availability, and business priorities.

Resource Management & Allocation:

  • Partner with the Project Management Office (PMO) to address and resolve Resource Management issues that arise during in-flight projects. Develop and implement strategies for reallocating resources or finding alternatives when staffing challenges occur.

  • Monitor ongoing projects to ensure resources are allocated efficiently and adjust allocations as needed to maintain alignment with project goals and address emerging risks.

Collaboration & Optimization:

  • Work closely with the Client Success Leads and Marketing PMO to develop and optimize operating model complexity rubrics that integrate into the capacity planning model, ensuring accurate and actionable forecasts.

  • Collaborate with project managers and business partners to forecast work accurately, manage resource needs, and adjust plans based on evolving project requirements and marketing campaigns.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Provide regular updates and insights to the Marketing & Messaging Operations team and other stakeholders regarding capacity planning, resource management, and project status. Use reporting tools and dashboards to facilitate these communications.

  • Develop and deliver presentations on capacity planning and resource management to inform strategic decision-making and support effective planning.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Project Management, or a related field; advanced degree or certification in Project Management (PMP) is a plus.

  • At least 5 years of experience in resource management, capacity planning, or project management within a marketing or similar environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Project Management experience
  • 3+ years of People Management experience
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to develop, interpret, and communicate complex capacity planning models and reports.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing interactive dashboards and reporting tools, using platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying information clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in managing resource allocation, resolving staffing challenges, and optimizing resource distribution.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Adobe Workfront or similar platforms.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $172,900 - $197,300 for Sr Manager, Project Management Illinois (Hybrid On-Site): $161,200 - $184,000 for Sr Manager, Project Management

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
