The Dialysis Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining dialysis machines, monitoring patients during dialysis treatments, and ensuring the quality and safety of the dialysis process. The role supports the Dialysis team in providing basic nursing care and carrying out technical procedures. Working under direct supervision, this position maintains accurate documentation of patient treatments and reports any issues or concerns to the appropriate medical staff. |

Performs hemodialysis treatments for patients, including preparation, supply gathering, care organization, documentation, and reporting abnormal findings to the RN/LPN. Assists with daily department operations, prepares dialysis treatment set-up, performs safety checks, and assists with machine cleaning and turnover between patients. Collaborates with co-workers, manages resources efficiently, maintains supplies, and communicates effectively with the healthcare team and patients. Performs quality control monitoring of the hemodialysis water system and equipment, including documenting results, reporting deviations, and implementing appropriate strategies. Precepts new Dialysis Technicians, assists with orientation, and evaluates competency-based training. Provides preventative maintenance and minor equipment repair, reports unsafe conditions, and assists with machine repairs. Responds to emergencies, adheres to patient safety goals, uses appropriate safety devices, protects confidential information, and follows organizational policies and procedures. Performs clerical activities, assists with scheduling appointments, enters charges, maintains paperwork, and ensures inventory levels are adequate. Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: High School diploma or equivalent |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: 0 ? 1 years of Nephrology experience to include Hemodialysis (HD) |
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: |
Required: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Certification (CCHT) certification, BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider |
