Symetra is seeking a Unit Manager to join our Retirement Back Office Team!


About the role

As a Unit Manager you will be responsible for leading, supervising and developing employees to meet individual unit performance objectives, which may include time standards, quality and/or production goals.


What you will do

  • Provide employees with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities
  • Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance
  • Lead all aspects of training and development of employees and make effective staffing decisions
  • Ensure employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
  • Accountable for managing daily workflow to meet Service Level Agreements, including making recommendations for maintaining appropriate staffing levels
  • Responsible for appropriate record keeping, required reports, and ensuring related administrative functions are accurate and maintained according to company policies
  • Accountable for resolution of customer and/or partner questions and complaints
  • Define short-term goals and objectives for their work group and communicate unit/department/company goals to achieve understanding and acceptance
  • Continuously build subject matter expertise by being a student of the business and demonstrate technical knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Handle crucial support functions and special projects as needed
  • Assist with the development of processes and procedural changes to improve unit/department performance
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

Salary Range: $64,200 - $106,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.


Your education, skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of work-related experience required
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior customer service and industry related experience preferred
  • Experience working in an operations environment preferred
  • Solid understanding of common software applications, business platforms preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to train, mentor and coach individuals and/or groups
  • Able to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Able to identify and analyze issues trends that impact customer satisfaction
