*Description:*
Our non-for-profit customer is in need of a mid-level Network Engineer to join their team of 4. This position is a hybrid role, 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. Our customer supports schools, churches, and community outreach centers which will require this person to be on the road 2 days per week assisting with things like network monitoring. They are an Aruba shop so any experience here would be great or a CCNA would be comparable. This role requires a lot of dispatching, physical hardware- how to get into a switch, layer 1 cabling, experience conducting changes, upgrades to firmware for access points, someone who also knows networking protocols like DNS and DHCP. Given that there's multiple locations throughout Baltimore, this person will be visiting sites 2 days per week, so you must be comfortable commuting to these locations via your own vehicle. You will be reimbursed for mileage. *Job Summary:* Provides technical assistance, tactical planning & execution, engineering, and documentation of the Agency's core network infrastructure including the implementation of hardware, software, and security requirements. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides maintenance and administration of Agency-wide Information Technology networks and systems. * Performs level 1 & 2 -problem resolution, assists with level 3 and demonstrates knowledge in network engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. * Configures and manages network devices including switches, routers, firewalls, telecommunications, and wireless access points and controllers. * Supports the configuration and management of network monitoring devices/services for Agency- wide network management. * Provides troubleshooting and problem resolution of network problems. * Supports advanced network-related projects; manages basic projects. * Collaborates with Technical Systems Architect and Sr. Network Engineer to evaluate, configure, and implement Agency network, Internet, and electronic communication security solutions and policies. * Procures data and voice cabling installations at sites for upgrades, replacements, and new structures. * Routinely monitors off-hours automated processes to ensure reliable operation and data recovery capability. * Develops and maintains system documentation; implements and reviews documentation making appropriate change recommendations. * Works closely and proactively with Business Systems and other Information Technology teams to ensure enterprise technology solutions align with Agency goals and objectives. * Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * B.S. degree in Computer Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience * 3+ years of experience in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting wide area network infrastructure devices, including firewalls, routers switches, wireless access points, and controllers Certification/Licensure: * Technical certification(s) required. REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: * Strong network fundamentals knowledge, VLANs, IP Addressing/Subnetting; Detailed packet level knowledge of network traffic. * Must be able to work independently and as part of a project team for large initiatives. * Must be able to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and how best to accomplish their goals in a diverse environment. * Knowledge of VoIP equipment and operations. * Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operation Systems (desktop and server). * Working knowledge of comprehensive IT security programs. * The ability to work in a fast-paced environment where 24/7 communications are required for critical applications. * Familiarity with accounting, payroll, and human resource information systems. * Demonstrated skills with networking/security technologies. Aruba, Airwave, ClearPass, and Cisco a plus. * Excellent customer-facing skills including consensus building, service skills, including verbal, and written communication at all levels of the organization. * The ability to provide thorough and effective updates to management and clients at the technical and supervisory level. * Working knowledge of Service Now Service Management workflow processes including Incident, Request, Problem, and Change Management. * Ability to act with discretion and professionalism in all situations. * Effective conflict resolution and teamwork skills.
