  • UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Responsibilities

The practice of perfusion is defined as those functions necessary for the support, treatment,

measurement, or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient.

A perfusionist is a skilled person, qualified by academic and clinical education, who operates

extracorporeal circulation equipment during an medical situation where it is necessary to support or

replace the patients cardiopulmonary/circulatory function and ensures the proper management of

physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary variables, including but not limited to blood

gasses/electrolytes and other normal physiological parameters.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of perfusion technology
  • Three (3) years of experience as a cardiovascular perfusionist
  • Nationally certified and have/be eligible for Texas state licensure. New graduates must obtain national certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion within one year from date of hire
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS)
