Civil Engineering Specialist

STV currently has an opening in our Los Angeles, CA office for a Civil Engineering Specialist (0-3 years' experience) in our Transportation Group.

This person will primarily perform production of construction documents, plans, specifications, construction cost estimating and various studies and reports for roadway, rail, utility, and site development projects including, but not limited to, design projects for public agencies.

The candidate will be responsible for:
* Supporting junior and senior staff on interdisciplinary projects, document preparation and production for design/bid/build and permitting, assisting sub-consultants, monitoring budgets, schedules, and quality control
* Assisting with the design of roadway and rail alignments, cross sections and details, grading, drainage (hydraulics and hydrology) and utility, traffic control plans and other railway infrastructure and site work
* Interacting with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams
* Assisting with civil design work using software to include but not limited to Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoTurn

Preferable Skills & Experience:
* BS/MS degree in Civil Engineering or Physical Sciences (EIT Certification is preferred)
* Ideal candidate will have a Minimum of 0-3 years of work experience in transportation, highway and roadway design, or closely related engineering field work.
* Experienced in AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation, Microsoft Office Suite and GIS
* Ability to support management and provide technical expertise in the following areas:
* Roadway/highway/rail design
* Vertical and horizontal alignments
* Traffic engineering
* Pavement section design
* Drainage Collection system design
* Utility system designs
* Stormwater report and calculations
* Hydrology and Hydraulic modelling
* Grading design
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to adapt to a fast-paced working environment
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Ability to track and meet task and project deadlines and work within allotted budgets
