Position Summary: The Quality Engineer will oversee the implementation, support and management of practices to assure products and processes adhere to specifications and standards and quality audits. They will be responsible for all quality checks, external quality and finished goods supplier quality. In addition, they will lead teams to improve business results and customer satisfaction, providing leadership in promoting, implementing and assuring high quality standards. Job Responsibilities:
- Act as a driving force behind critical strategic, operational and organizational initiatives
- Manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction opportunities
- Communicate with production management and quality management to define strategy
- Track financial results and reports on quantifiable goals and objectives, estimating future projects from financial, throughput, lead-time and on-time performance improvements to assist in the prioritization of projects
- Facilitate discussions among employees about the standardization of work processes
- Collaborate and support New Product Development projects to achieve quality objectives
- Interact with customers and suppliers to review specific quality opportunities, rectify field complaints and conduct reviews of new and existing products
- Lead/support corrective action teams and continuous quality prevention activities
- Monitor and control costs, timing, and other related aspects of projects. Develop cost quotations related to specifications, test equipment, and gauge requirements
- Provide effective leadership, training and mentorship to quality team
- Conduct product audit to verify stability of the process
- Inspects materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications, and oversees adjustments to process or equipment to meet standards.
- Collect samples for testing, and computes findings.
- Reads dials and meters to verify that equipment is functioning, and product is conforming to internal specifications.
- Performs process and product conformance audits. Takes corrective action to contain any non-conforming product and recommends actions to eliminate root cause of non-conformance.
- Tests and measures finished products, components, or assemblies to verify adherence to internal specifications. Ensures materials and products are within established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are not irregular or damaged.
- Marks items for acceptance or rejection, records test results and inspection data, and compares findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards.
- Confers with vendors and others regarding inspection results, recommends corrective procedures, and compiles reports of results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
- Notifies supervisor of deviations from specifications by operators, machine malfunctions, or need for equipment maintenance.
- Documents findings, processes, and procedures.
- Spearheads troubleshooting of quality-related problems in products. Liaise with slab manufacturing quality team to communicate and resolve slab related quality issues.
- Provide consistent feedback to production teams on QA related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of quality leadership experience
- ISO 9001 experience desired
- Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, conflict resolution, and management
- Deep understanding of quality systems and certification requirements
- Strong commitment to doing quality work by serving internal and external customers
