General Information:

JMU's Payroll Services department is seeking applications for a Payroll Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of, and the accurate and timely processing of all university payrolls. This position works in coordination with another Operations Manager to fulfill theses duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for the processing of all university payrolls. The processing of all university payrolls consists of ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all payroll transactions through analysis, research, query design and manipulation, reconciliation and reporting.
  • Directs and approves all processes and procedures initiated by payroll staff necessary to complete the payroll confirmation process.
  • Responsible for auditing, calculating, reconciling, completing and the timely electronic transmission of all federal and state payroll tax reporting and year end reconciliation requirements.
  • Monitors any changes that may affect gross to net calculations.
  • Monitors all deductions that affect benefits and net pay for all university employees.
  • Analyzes, researches and responds to written and verbal inquiries so that employees and others receive accurate information in a timely and professional manner.


Qualifications:

Required:



  • Demonstrated experience in payroll processing.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting policies and procedures related to payroll and payroll processing.
  • The ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Additional Considerations:



  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience working in an educational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience ensuring accuracy and integrity of all payroll related transactions.
  • Experience in Finance ERP systems.
  • Experience with the Virginia Retirement System and VRS Navigator (VNAV).
