Primary Purpose of Job

Responsible for performing all Automated Clearing House (ACH) operational support duties and ensuring ACH transactions are processed in an accurate, timely and efficient manner. Minimizes losses resulting from error or fraud by adhering to applicable policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with all applicable banking laws and regulations.

Major Job Accountabilities

  • Process routine to moderately complex ACH transactions with accuracy, proficiency, within specified timeframes and in compliance with applicable ACH and other banking rules and regulations.
  • Sets up, verifies, and maintains Originators and Third-Party Senders, monitors the origination processing windows; processes suspended or exception files; and performs file validations, as necessary.
  • Reconciles and balances ACH settlement accounts to ensure all ACH transactions originated and received are processed and correct settlements are received.
  • Leads routine system upgrade testing efforts to evaluate changes, document impacts, create and execute testing, report results, and make recommendations.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries, research and resolve discrepancies and work closely with management on escalated issues.
  • Works with vendors and technology support teammates to resolve routine system issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Stays current and knowledgeable about changes in NACHA rules, emerging issues and trends in ACH guidance, regulations, and requirements.
  • Creates and maintains procedures and workflows and cross trains new hires.

Experience Required

A minimum of two (2) years of experience:

  • In Automated Clearing House (ACH) processing and systems or
  • Bank operations or other similar processing and/or customer service responsibilities.

Required Skills or Training

  • General knowledge of ACH products and services offered by the bank.
  • Understands and adheres to rules and regulations governing ACH processing.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy when performing job duties.
  • Ability to make critical decisions autonomously when required.
  • Knowledge of project management framework and/or six sigma preferred.
  • Able to identify and analyze problems to provide sound solutions or recommendations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to ensure critical deadlines are met within established standards.
  • Possess a professional attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel).
