Scope of Position

The Department of Marketing, Communications and Digital Strategy is responsible for the overall brand management and communications and marketing activities on behalf of the entire Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and the College of Medicine. This Director position sits within the Growth Marketing and Reputation Strategy Team and reports to the Associate Vice President of Growth Marketing and Reputation Strategy. The primary function of this position is to focus on Team Buckeye, Ohio States Pelotonia super pelotons rider recruitment, challenger and volunteer participation and donor engagement.

Position Summary

The Director of Team Buckeye drives the strategic direction to maintain, build and engage faculty and staff across the health system and the university to participate and support Pelotonia through the Team Buckeye super peloton. The Director oversees and manages the production and creation of all collateral materials, presentations, incentives, web content, communications, support and follow-up for units, departments and individuals interested in participating in Pelotonia. In addition to managing projects, this position manages a direct report, vendors, freelancers, and students necessary to complete the work. This position works closely with and collaborates with Cancer Program Marketing and Communication, Ohio State University Medical Center Marketing and Communication, Cancer Development, University Development, University advancement and community supporters and leaders to support the needs for various initiatives, events and programs related to Team Buckeye.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent collaborator capable of building and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of individuals, departments and leaders. They must manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to constant change, and provide innovative solutions to enhance engagement, participation, and recognition of Team Buckeye and Pelotonia.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.

  • Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in fundraising, account services, communications, and/or donor relations.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as presentation skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with demonstrated superior organizational skills.

  • Ability to connect with and manage relationships with a wide variety of individuals.

  • Ability to manage diverse projects.

  • Thrives in fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and adapts quickly and easily to shifting priorities and continuous change.

  • Demonstrates discretion regarding highly confidential matters; highly professional demeanor; availability to work after-hours upon request.
