Duty/Emergency Response & Residential Living Obligation
Resident Counselor (RC)
* Be present each evening for camper nightly check in.
Activity Coordinator (AC)
* Nightly evening activity clean up.

* RCs/ACs are required to live on campus residentially for the duration of the job.
* In addition to receiving monetary compensation, RCs/ACs receive free on-campus housing and a full meal plan.
* Serve in a shared weekday and weekend duty/emergency response coverage rotation with fellow staff members.
* Walk rounds of the residence hall each evening while on duty to be visible & available to campers.
* Sleep on campus nightly unless approved for a night away.

Office Hours & Administrative Duties Resident Counselor
* Work ranges from 30 to 35 hours per week divided between office shifts, staff meetings, supervisor 1:1 meetings, and nightly camper check-in.
* Maintain an organized and clean office.
Activity Coordinator
* Work ranges from 30 to 35 hours per week divided between staff meetings, supervisor 1:1 meetings, individual or group programs, and nightly event clean up.
Both Positions:
* Respond to or appropriately refer all requests that come in by phone, e-mail, or in person to the Summer Professional staff.
* Work independently and take initiative to complete tasks and projects as assigned.
* Follow office procedures and protocol & complete all administrative tasks by the assigned deadlines.
* Assist supervisors with office coverage & all camper check-in/check-out procedures.
Customer Service
* Treat campers, guests, Summer Leadership staff, University employees, supervisors, and colleagues with courtesy and respect.
* Counsel campers with personal and art concerns
* Respond to all questions, inquiries, and comments in a timely and professional manner.
* Practice active listening, be observant, and make appropriate referrals.
* Dress, speak, and behave in an appropriate, professional manner.
* Be familiar with the university campus and resources, to assist with the needs of our campers.
* Help to create and maintain a positive community environment in the halls.
* Be visible and available in the community to assist and be a resource to campers.
Facilities * Identify and immediately report any facility and safety/security needs.
* Report facilities issues through the established work request system and notify supervisor(s) of urgent issues or issues that have not been resolved in a reasonable amount of time.
* Conduct daily visual inspection of your residential hall and furnishings for damage.

UNCSA) is proud to announce that we are seeking Resident Counselors and Activities Coordinators, for Summer 2025! Applications for these positions are open until filled, but priority will be given to applicants that submit before March 31, 2025.
UNCSA Summer Intensive Program
Join us in the "City of Arts and Innovation", Winston Salem, North Carolina on the campus of The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (
UNCSA)!
UNCSA is the nation's first public arts conservatory! Our Residential Summer programs feature intensives in dance, drama, filmmaking, music, and visual arts and lasts approximately five (5) weeks for students in middle and high school.
Resident Counselors and Activity Coordinator Positions
These two positions are temporary part-time staff members, who are required to live in the residence hall (Artist Village). Resident Counselors are responsible for the general supervision and management of a residential area housing approximately one floor of high school students.
The Activities Coordinators assist with the planning and implementation of fun and engaging programs for our campers. Activity Coordinators are also responsible for the general supervision and management of a residential area housing approximately one floor of high school students.
COMPENSATION:
* Compensation is $3,420 for an approximate five-week commitment of work (includes training week)
* Free housing in Artist Village
* Partial meal plan is included |
Work Schedule and Hours |
The Resident Counselor/Activity Coordinator position is approximately a five-week (in addition to one week of comprehensive training), live-in position. The virtual portion of training will begin on June 16, 2025. Resident Counselors will begin moving to live on campus on June 16th and will move out on July 19th. Work ranges from 30 to 35 hours per week. |
Required Qualifications |
* Must be at least 2 years past High School graduation
* Must be able to live residentially on the
UNCSA campus (Winston Salem, NC) for the duration of this job.
* Some experience with high school age students |

* Have previous residence hall experience
* Have strong communication skills
* Organized, responsible, and have the ability to work independently.
* Have minimal time commitments (less than 10 hrs./week) and a flexible schedule during the summer. |
