JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Contract Specialist is responsible for developing relationships and expanded third party payer prescriptions programs, as well as gain access to payers for all pharmacies within the UTSW Pharmacy Serviceline.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree with a preferred focus in healthcare, business, or accounting.
  • Experience

  • 2 years to 3 years of experience in pharmacy contracting, insurance, claims processing, or other business-related field.

JOB DUTIES
  • Pharmacy Contract Specialist basic responsibilities may include:
  • Manage all contract negotiation, payer relations and communication for UTSW's pharmacy services, ensuring that contract requirements are met.
  • Oversee medication access, pricing fees and the delivery of the Pharmacy Value Proposition for the pharmacy serviceline
  • Assist in cost consolidation, product standardization initiatives, scorecards and metrics to evaluate performance and contribute to high patient and customer satisfaction.
  • Administer contracting payers for specialty, home infusion and other ambulatory pharmacy services
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President of Pharmacy and Administrative Director of Pharmacy to help set business strategies on clinical integration of pharmacy services for population health, pharmacy sales growth, gross profit analysis,
  • Conduct site performance and payment audits, provides training to others within pharmacy serviceline to ensure optimal contracting and revenue cycle capture.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives that will enhance patient satisfaction, organizational growth and net revenue.
  • Deliver data and reports to Directors and AVP in a detailed oriented and timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with team members and supervisor.
  • Point out system or process problems when noticed; engages the team in problem solving.
  • Promote an image of a high-quality organization through expertise and responsiveness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
