To this effect, we are seeking dynamic professionals to join ALAM to lead the Technical training domain in addition to driving the CIMP program management ( including CIMP training ) in the Industrial Management function globally (US and APAC); thereby accelerating ALAM's targeted technical populations' development through streamlined learning process.

The Position:
The Head of Technical Training strategically directs the global development and implementation of ALAM's technical training strategy and programs, collaborating with key stakeholders including WBL and ALU. This involves driving comprehensive Training Needs Analysis, overseeing the creation of strategic training modules, implementing global technical training and qualification programs, and architecting development roadmaps for DA/SMEs. The role also encompasses establishing strategic feedback mechanisms and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

This global role reports to Senior Director, Industrial Management covering all the sites of ALAM in US and APAC.

The Mission: Retain, Propagate, Anticipate and Develop
This role provides strategic direction for technical competency development and CIMP program implementation within ALAM, which is critical for organizational success. By strategically leading the global development and implementation of the technical training strategy, roadmap, and CIMP projects, this role champions technical and C-IMP methodology training as the foundation for driving profitable growth, enhancing employee experience (EX), optimizing customer experience (CX), and achieving significant efficiencies.

Key responsibilities:

The Head of Technical Training works with all functions in the business, notably Country GMs, HSES, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Product Management, R&D (Chemistry Technology Development and Process Development) and HR and is responsible for:

  • Industrial Management System

    • As process owner of IMS GP03 (Competence Management) globally for ALAM, is responsible for designing and implementing this process within ALAM, including:

      • Strategically designing and evolving the global Competence Management program for ALAM.

      • Defining and prioritizing strategic objectives for Competence Management in alignment with ALAM's overall business goals.

      • Establishing a comprehensive framework for identifying roles and tasks that require formal qualification across ALAM.

      • Setting organization-wide competency standards for each qualified role and task, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

      • Providing strategic guidance and support to Facility and Activity Managers to ensure effective and consistent implementation of the Competence Management process globally.

      • Leading the monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Competence Management process to maximize its effectiveness and impact on ALAM's performance.

      • Overseeing the collection, analysis, and reporting of Competence Management data and insights to inform strategic decision-making and management reviews.

  • Training & Development

    • Strategically lead the development and implementation of the technical Knowledge Management Initiative across ALAM.

    • Conduct strategic analysis to identify critical competencies, and identify DA/SMEs. In collaboration with functional leaders propose training and retention of information in an organized manner to be used by the business long.

    • Provide strategic leadership in the TCL nomination and selection process in ALAM, partnering with HR and the TCL selection committee.

    • Providing feedback to leadership on individuals within their organization who has shown technical expertise that may lead to TCL nomination

    • Design, develop, and strategically align training programs with the Training Need Analysis and ALAM's strategic objectives.

    • Establish strategic partnerships with internal and external resources to continuously enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Training Delivery.

    • Direct the global technical training, development, and qualification program for the ALAM Operations team, leveraging expertise to support strategic operational goals.

    • Strategically contribute to the Individual Development Plans of key talent populations to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

    • Establish a strategic feedback mechanism for training and development programs to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with business needs.

    • Develop and utilize BI dashboards to strategically track and analyze the effectiveness of the technical talent development program.

  • C-IMP Program Management:

    • Strategically directing the global implementation of CIMP (including replication) projects, ensuring alignment with ALAM's business objectives and collaborating with all stakeholders, including Country GMs and site leaders.

    • Establishing and leading a strategic governance framework for CIMP program implementation, utilizing the PDCA cycle to drive continuous improvement and optimize program effectiveness across ALAM.

Required Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (mandatory) and Black belt preferred

  • 12+ yrs working experience in technical functions (including technical training), which include 2-3 years working experience in the fine chemical industry (or similar) and experience in the transverse domain in the chemical industry.

  • Have a strong passion for training and nurturing talents.

  • Experience in developing and implementing company wide global strategic plans & multiple year road map.

  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in written and verbal formats with stakeholders at multiple levels in the business.

  • Experience of a global/international industrial context.

  • Strong analytical skills; self starter; objective driven; achiever.

  • Ability to interact successfully across all levels of the organization, from technicians to executive level

  • Ability to work globally and lead effectively by Influence.

  • Ability to effectively and proficiently communicate both verbally and written in English
