Position Overview
Position Overview:
A key driver of student success and retention-oriented programs and initiatives, the Associate Director of Learning and Writing Support provides vision, leadership, and management over a growing portfolio of programs and services for the Wingspan: the Center for Learning and Writing Support. The current portfolio of programs includes Peer Academic Coaching, Peer-Assisted Learning Support, Supplemental Instruction, Tutoring Services, and Writing Center Services. The Associate Director supervises, directs the activities of, and evaluates the performance of a highly collaborative team of 6-8 professional staff who supervise 150-200 student employees. The Associate Director leads the assessment and evaluation of Wingspan programs and services to ensure student learning outcomes are met and is responsible for creating its annual report. The Associate Director proactively collaborates with campus and community stakeholders to deliver student academic success and retention initiatives. The Associate Director's responsibilities include participating in campus initiatives related to student success and retention; overseeing and directing activities related to the Wingspan space, staff, and programming, including hiring, training, and professional development; overseeing budgets; and collaborating on communications. The Associate Director reports to the Assistant Vice Provost of Academic Success. Unit Overview: University Academic Support Centers (UASC) is a comprehensive student support program consisting of five unique centers designed to strengthen the academic skills and written communication of students at the University of Kansas. UASC supports the University's commitment to the academic success and holistic development of students. UASC programs encourage student participation both in and out of the classroom, support academic and personal development, and link students to other campus and community resources for academic and personal support and development.
