The Sustainability Principal-Air Quality shapes and coordinates our climate data analysis roadmap for regulatory disclosures and drives its successful execution through cross-functional partnership. With a keen eye for detail and strong business acumen, this role will be responsible for centralizing air quality related analysis to support all external reporting. This individual will build strong relationships with global and cross-functional teams to ensure that FedEx's environmental sustainability strategies, policies, processes, controls and disclosures meet emerging compliance requirements, align with voluntary and regulatory reporting standards, and are consistent across all external requirements. This person will act as an enterprise expert to the FedEx approach to greenhouse gas related compliance and disclosures and communicate necessary business change across its global audience. Essential Functions
- Serves as a subject matter expert on global environmental sustainability-air quality related reporting matters and ensures that reporting is aligned to the requirements of various regulations (including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework (ISO 14083) and CORSIA, ESG disclosures) and monitoring associated trends
- Orchestrates air quality / emissions elements of ESG disclosures across multiple regulatory requirements to ensure consistency. Refines the metrics FedEx uses to measure progress towards our sustainability targets and the determination of new goals.
- Leads benchmarking to identify greenhouse gas related reporting best practices and improvement opportunities
- Prepares greenhouse gas reporting-related presentations and other documents for management, board of directors, etc.
- Establishes a governance and control framework for air quality aspects that complies with relevant ESG reporting standards and regulations, in order to ensure reporting integrity and assurance and comply with external assurance expectations
- Monitors the development of domestic and international climate change regulations, standards, programs and policies to assess impacts on FedEx and provides strategic and tactical recommendations. communicates information to relevant stakeholders, and implements required changes to reporting policies, practices, and processes
- Coordinates with internal and external auditors in their review and assurance of greenhouse gas related elements of ESG reporting, including implementation of remediation actions
- Assesses new technologies and projects that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and document assessments and recommendations.

Minimum Education Bachelor's degree/equivalent in engineering, science, sustainability, environmental management or a similar discipline. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum Experience Seven (7) years professional experience in greenhouse gas inventory programs such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework (ISO 14083), emissions calculations and compliance, environmental sustainability and ESG disclosures, or related areas. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly absorb new material and concepts, assess their impact and provide strategy recommendation.
- Adept at manipulating, evaluating and interpreting large data sets and draw conclusions from such analyses.
- Ability to navigate uncertainty, work in a fast-paced environment and complete deliverables within established deadlines.
Preferred
- Command of greenhouse gas inventory programs such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework (ISO 14083) and CORSIA.
- Knowledge of insetting, offsetting and instruments for the trading of environmental benefits associated with fuels and electricity.
- Experience in the transportation industry and knowledge of sustainable aviation fuel, electric vehicles, and/or green energy are advantageous.
- Familiarity with mandatory and voluntary reporting regulations and standards, (ESRS/IFRS, GRI, SASB), frameworks (COSO, TCFD) and third-party ratings (ISS, S&P, Sustainalytics, MSCI).
