As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join and lead other smart, talented, and dedicated engineers that pride themselves in analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and their customers.

This position is located at Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB), FL.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telecommuting schedule.

Tasks for this position must be performed largely on-site, but later assignments may be performed remotely

Essential Functions:

  • Performs as lead RF engineer on multi-disciplined project teams.
  • Supports Systems Engineering for both the Eastern and Western Ranges in an Engineering capacity with the opportunity to work with Radar, Telemetry, Surveillance, Optical, Communications, Command Destruct, Data Handling, Weather, Timing, and Safety systems on both the Eastern and Western Launch Test Ranges.
  • Researches, designs, develops, modifies, evaluates and implements highly complex, new and/or existing capabilities for systems containing RF elements
  • Assists with complex systems modeling and simulation, trouble resolution, and analysis to provide the most appropriate technical solution
  • Supports complex Level 1, 2, and 3 testing to qualify hardware systems installation at range Instrumentation sites.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements design approaches for products
  • Coordinates the efforts of technical support personnel for assigned projects
  • Analyzes, develops, recommends and implements approaches to meet Range requirements
  • Reviews literature, patents and current practices to support business requirements and/or new industry technology
  • Prepares reports regarding new technology to communicate to appropriate personnel
  • Evaluates component suppliers and vendor capabilities; acts as liaison to approved vendors/suppliers to maintain a working relationship
  • Serves as an interface for project information to internal management and Government customers.
  • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Assists Depot with problematic repairs of Line Replaceable Units (LRU's)
  • Develops and supports risk statements and reviews
  • Provides systems engineering oversight and leadership for products and/or processes including the identification and review of changes to configurations
  • Provides cost and schedule estimates for various engineering efforts and project proposals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues verbally and through written media such as graphical slides and verbal presentations to contract management and customers.
  • Ability to read and understand wire diagrams, schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and conflict management skills
  • Good human relations and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external support personnel and provide guidance to less experienced engineers
  • Ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment with time constraints
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with the Government customers, superiors, peers, and subordinates

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field
  • Ten (10) or more years of related engineering experience
  • Experience working with Windows based computer systems and components and Office tool suite
  • Experience providing inputs to complex project proposals within defined time constraints involving multi-discipline teams
  • Experience providing leadership to engineering projects and/or project teams.
  • Fundamental knowledge of hardware systems integration and testing.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and systems engineering processes
  • General knowledge of instrumentation systems troubleshooting
  • Proficient in use of specialized test equipment
  • Fundamental knowledge in technical writing for development of technical reports (White Papers) and other technical support documentation.
  • Familiarization with computer systems, including servers and workstations.
  • Familiarization with the Linux and Windows Operating systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be willing to travel locally from Patrick AFB to Cape Canaveral AFS and Jupiter, Fl
  • May be required to travel, on occasion, to Vandenberg AFB and/or Ascension Island
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required
