Job Scope/ Summary
  • Coordinate the administration of corporate fleet operations and related activities
  • Perform various work activities and tasks in relation to traffic movements and equipment
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and trace all freight movements, including warehouse transfers, raw material pick-ups, outside vendor pick-ups, miscellaneous departmental freight, and other required traffic movements.
  • Provide shipper summary reports of all outgoing freight to customers.
  • Provide accurate records of all new store-opening orders to completion.
  • Prepare and maintain all carrier information and files.
  • Maintain computer database (ITLS), including updating carrier information and auditing the accuracy of information pertaining to warehouses and non-routable shipments.
  • Maintain corporate pricing information and update with changes as needed.
  • Coordinate with regional distribution center personnel to develop best practices with respect to lane maximization.
  • Process freight bills, confirm rates, process each bill through the audit program and coordinate with carriers to resolve freight issues.
  • Verify the condition and operation of all vehicle equipment complies with corporate safety policies and procedures, and applicable government safety rules and regulations.
  • Update vehicle log to ensure all vehicle equipment has been properly insured and registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles, and appropriate documentation has been issued and is readily accessible.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION
  • Educational attainment equivalent to high school graduation
  • Considerable experience in freight administration, logistics and record keeping processes
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES
  • Considerable knowledge of freight tracking, scheduling and record keeping practices
  • Considerable knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), local truck ordinances, Federal transportation laws and related safety regulations
  • Knowledge of MS Office software applications
  • Ability to independently plan, schedule carrier selection, driver assignments and special equipment requirements
  • Ability to use a computer to access, enters, review and update computerized records
