The Opportunity

The College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide Campus (ERAU-W) seeks an Assistant Professor of the Practice (Ph.D. required) in Human Factors. This is a fully remote online position with no relocation required; faculty travel at least once per year is required to attend mandatory college meetings and events.

Candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Human Factors, Human Factors Engineering, Cognition, Physiology, Ergonomic or Biomechanics, Human Computer Interaction, Systems Engineering, Applied Human Factors, or Industrial Psychology, or related disciplines, and possess a demonstrated competency in human factors-related studies and practices. Candidates should have demonstrated industry or government experience related to human cognitive, physiological, psychological, or biomechanical performance; human-system interface; designing for human interface; and related skills.

The successful candidate will join the college's Department of Human Factors, Safety and Social Sciences and its Human Factors program, where they will support both the Master of Science in Human Factors and the new Bachelor of Science in Human Factors Psychology degree programs. The position will also contribute to teaching in the General Education program, as well as in select minors. Teaching modalities primarily include asynchronous and synchronous online delivery. A limited number of face-to-face offerings may be available based on faculty location.

Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching interests align with college areas of expertise in human factors, and who can teach a bandwidth of courses serving departmental needs in human factors studies (e.g., human factors, methods, ergonomics, cognition, and human performance). Service responsibilities include participation on departmental, college, and/or university committees.

The Department of Human Factors, Safety and Social Sciences serves as the home for the MS in Human Factors and the MS in Occupational Safety Management; the BS in Human Factors Psychology; the BS in Safety Management; as well asMinors in Economics, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Occupational Safety and Health; and provides foundational economics, psychology, and safety courses that support general education requirements and prerequisites to other Worldwide degree programs.

The college also delivers the general education program to all Worldwide Campus students, providing over 2,000 sections annually, with a focus on developing students' capacity in critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, information literacy, communication, scientific literacy, cultural literacy, technological literacy, and collaboration. Required Education and Qualifications:
