Position Summary:

The Planner/Buyer I will support the activities of the Research and Development Department by creating Purchase Orders for non-quotable items, perform data entry administration on Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word), and create work orders in EBS. This is an entry level position that draws upon administrative, organizational, and analytical skills combined with experience working with ERP database tools (Oracle, SAP) to organize and communicate information. This position will work in a fast paced, dynamic, team environment within the Research and Development department to provide support for all purchasing and planning related activities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Place orders through approved vendors in EBS for expensed items.
  • Issue expense purchase orders with vendors already setup in EBS system.
  • Review new prototype requests and create draft process routings for shop assignment, add new jobs to excel based planning tools.
  • Order all materials as requested through approved vendors.
  • Issue Work Orders through EBS for all steps through process completion.
  • Packaging up components to ship externally to vendors and delivering finished components to internal customers.
  • Engages in and actively volunteers for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participates in and sustains 5S.
  • Must follow all required ISO procedures, comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements, and adhere to SIG SAUER, Inc. security mandates.

Education/Experience & Skills:



  • A Bachelor's or Associate degree in Business Administration is preferred, High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1 year using Oracle or any similar ERP software application preferred.
  • 1 year using Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access).
  • Experience using and maintaining firearms is preferred.


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
