  • Hourly Pay Range: $28.47-$42.71. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Full Time
  • Hours: 1:00pm-11:30pm

A Brief Overview:

Assesses the clinical needs of customers seeking behavioral health services and provides treatment referrals which are consistent with the customer's medical and psychiatric status/symptoms, all under the direct supervision of an Assessment Specialist II.

What you will do:

  • Under supervision, conducts comprehensive clinical assessments for patients seeking treatment at LOH, Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital.
  • Appropriately assesses their clinical needs. Obtains initial diagnostic impression and confirmation during the disposition process with the physician or designee.
  • Assesses patients including vital signs, weight, blood alcohol and calibration of BMI for specific population.
  • Reviews previous documentation prior to assessment process and "case formulation".
  • Provides treatment referrals which are consistent with the customer's medical and psychiatric status and symptoms.
  • Identifies potential/actual problems that may adversely affect the patient and/or department. Reports situations immediately.
  • Oversees follow up with referral sources as appropriate.
  • Obtains collateral with families and support systems through face-to-face interviews and/or phone calls.
  • Completes and acts as a resource to hospital staff on admission paperwork and patient rights.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of hospital admission policies, including but not limited to EMTALA, Illinois Mental Health Code and Confidentiality Act and HIPAA.
  • Demonstrates understating of Behavioral Health Reimbursement systems, including managed care contracts, utilization management processes, Medicare and Medicaid. Facilitates bed management planning and coordination with nursing supervisors. Collaborates with nursing supervisor regarding admissions and discharges.
  • Functions as backup for the Psych Liaison and Care Coordinator when needed.
  • Assures all communication, verbal and written is clear, accurate and timely. Employee reflects feedback in their performance.

What you will need:

Required Education, Skills and/or Experience:

  • Master's Degree or a higher in a behavioral health field
  • A high level of communication skills is required in order interact effectively with others in very difficult situations
  • Knowledge of DSM5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) diagnostic criteria, ICD10 and interqual standards

Preferred Education, Skills and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of one year if experience in a behavioral health role

Required License and/or Certification:

  • Must be eligible to sit and take the licensing exam within six months of start date into position. Must have obtained Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) licensure within one year of start date into position.
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of start date into position.
