Overview

In this role, you will diagnose, repair, overhaul and maintain customer and company heavy equipment and components.
Pay Rate: $35.00 - $44.00/hour based on location, education and experience. This is a union position.

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on construction equipment at an advanced level with proficiency.
- Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
- Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
- Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
- Order replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at the time of order.
- Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
- Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
- Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
- Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems.
- Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
- Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance adhering to company policy.
- Flexible work hours in addition to the normal work schedule for emergency calls or routine service as required.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of three years' experience on Cat equipment or other similar equipment.
- Proficient in transmission, engines, hydraulics, and electrical.
- Strong problem-solving skills and be detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and components in the field.
- Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Strong math skills.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds on an unassisted basis.
- Ability to work in the field without supervision.
- Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced service environment.
- Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
- Must have a safe working record.
- Ability to operate a service vehicle.
- Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
- DOT and MSHA certifications required.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Associates degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience on CAT heavy equipment preferred.
- CDL A or B License.
