Position Summary

The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month Reading Coordinator position. This role will oversee the Lilly ASRI Grant administration, curriculum development, materials procurement, and the overall redesign of literacy courses for Elementary Education, Early Childhood, and Special Education programs. The position includes an option to teach one 3-credit hour undergraduate course per semester in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or Special Education. This position is grant-funded through December 31, 2026.

Duties/Responsibilities



  • Manage all aspects of the Lilly ASRI Grant implementation and reporting

  • Supervise a graduate assistant assigned to the grant

  • Oversee the Lilly ASRI Grant budget and expenditures

  • Lead curriculum development related to the Science of Reading initiative

  • Procure instructional materials and oversee course redesign for Science of Reading courses

  • Support faculty in transitioning to Science of Reading instructional approaches

  • Coordinate Science of Reading training opportunities for students, faculty, lecturers, and university supervisors

  • Oversee the Literacy Center operations and coordinate with library administration on scheduling and usage

  • Research and pursue additional grant opportunities for ongoing funding

  • Coordinate literacy onsite evaluations

  • Manage Screagle Simulation operations and scheduling

  • Train students and faculty on literacy instruction technology (e.g., Mursion, GoReact)

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of the Pott College


Required Knowledge and Skills



  • Master's degree in education or closely related field

  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a K-12 classroom setting

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Knowledge and Skills



  • Experience with grant administration and management

  • Knowledge of Science of Reading principles and practices

  • Experience with literacy program development

  • Familiarity with educational technology tools for literacy instruction


Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements


  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional irregular or additional hours may be required to meet administrative responsibilities.
  • This is a full-time, 12-month position requiring regular on-campus presence throughout the term of employment.
