GENERAL PURPOSE

The Senior Benefits Consultant will analyze, assess, and design benefits programs and ensure legal, regulatory, and operational adherence of all benefit processes. Use systems and analysis to diagnose corporate-level benefits issues and make recommendations to affect benefit plans and internal policies. Participate in benefits benchmark surveys, analyze and interpret data, and make recommendations to ensure MillerKnoll benefit programs and processes align with market practices & trends and corporate strategies & philosophies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage US and Canada medical, dental, life, disability, and voluntary benefits on a regular basis and in annual programs (open enrollment, etc.).

  • Work with our external partner in the management and oversight of the benefits strategy for Europe; lead the implementation of benefit harmonization where needed; communicate with external and internal stakeholders. Manage annual renewals.

  • Conduct the US, Canada, and Europe health and welfare renewal process by identifying and obtaining required data, analyzing proposals and providing feedback, and making recommendations to stakeholders (Total Rewards, Finance) and other internal and external partners.

  • Responsible for the administration of Europe regional benefit programs, preparing and updating local administrative guidelines and policies that align with corporate programs. Assist in creating global benefits communications and landing locally.

  • Develop and maintain HRIS system reports for US benefit plan trend analysis.

  • Ensure legal compliance through coordination of government filings, testing, and maintenance of plan documents.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, such as (but not limited to) PPACA, PCORI, COBRA, FSA, HSA, ERISA, MHPA, GINA, and discrimination testing. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes to ensure plans and programs remain in compliance.

  • Maintain data integrity by coordinating US and Canada benefit plan audits, initiating and performing data audits of internal HR and payroll systems and external vendor systems.

  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement benefits programs, including data gathering, proposal coordination, and process analysis.

  • Prepare various research, analytics, and reports as required by both internal and external sources for benefits planning and ensuring relevance, competitiveness, and affordability.

  • Prepare, perfect, and review monthly billing statements and eligibility reports for US and Canada benefit vendors.

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd tier customer service to associates across the organization, including HR partners, and business leaders.

  • Responsible for preparation, implementation and communication of US and Canada annual open enrollment.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business-related area or equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years' of professional experience in Total Rewards and human resources with at least 5 years' experience in benefits and vendor management.

  • Solid understanding of laws and regulations related to benefit plan administration and compliance including FMLA and Leaves of Absence.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation and communication software and tools currently being used in the MillerKnoll office environment, proficient in spreadsheet analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to professionally interact and communicate with employees on all levels, as well as management, peers, HR Business Partners, and external vendors.

  • Exceptional organization and follow up.

  • Experience with Workday and other benefits platforms is preferred.
