JOB PURPOSE: The Intake Shelter Assessor will conduct intake screenings and coordinated assessment evaluations for housing needs and determine client eligibility, allowing them access to shelter and services. In addition, the Intake Shelter Assessor will work within a homeless shelter (night or day shelter). This position requires high energy, strong professionalism, good presentation, and motivational skills. The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, maintain control of a high-volume and high-demand work environment, and be comfortable working with people experiencing homelessness Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide initial intake screenings and housing needs coordinated assessment evaluations to determine client eligibility and coordinate with shelter staff for placement. * Provide information and community referrals to ineligible individuals and individuals not scheduled with a Service and Care Coordinator due to program capacity. * Assist the case management team in conducting service referrals for mainstream benefits and community resources. * Develop and maintain a comprehensive referral network with community partners to connect clients with essential services. * Track and maintain a list of all residents needing a new or updated coordinated assessment for housing services. * Obtain, store, and track all client data and coordinate assessments in HMIS. * Other duties as assigned. * Demonstrate Exceptional customer service, in Everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to "Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities." ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field, preferred. EXPERIENCE: 1+ years in a customer service-focused environment. Experience with homeless, low-income, veterans & their families is a strong plus. ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion. LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record. VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice. OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
