Job Title: Branch Operations Specialist or Branch Operations Officer
Location: Carlsbad, CA | Retail Banking
Job Type: Full-time
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Branch Operations Specialist or Branch Operations Officer, depending on experience and qualifications. This role involves delivering personalized banking services, ensuring operational excellence, and providing leadership and training to branch staff. The selected candidate will support the Branch Manager in driving branch growth and ensuring compliance with bank policies and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities (Applicable to Both Roles):
Operations & Compliance



  • Schedule branch staff to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Maintain operational standards and ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the Branch Certification package is accurate and complete.
  • Oversee branch security, including coaching and training staff in security procedures.
  • Manage branch controls for keys, combinations, security signals, and cash limits.
  • Handle and resolve client account disputes and inquiries.
  • Perform daily operational tasks, including file maintenance, overdraft reviews, and report management.
  • Review and approve or decline transaction exceptions within authority limits.
  • Execute teller duties, open new accounts, and perform quality control callbacks.
  • Monitor new account openings for compliance with procedures and regulations.
  • Handle escalated customer service issues professionally.
  • Complete a minimum of 10 hours of CRA volunteer work annually (during business hours, with mileage reimbursement).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Additional Responsibilities by Role:
Branch Operations Officer - Sales Focus



  • Lead sales initiatives to drive branch deposit growth.
  • Identify client needs and offer suitable financial products and services.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with business development, including outside prospecting.
  • Provide ongoing relationship management with clients to enhance retention and growth.
  • Support promotional activities as required.


Branch Operations Specialist - Leadership & Service Focus



  • Guide, train, and develop staff on operational procedures.
  • Recognize and reward staff for outstanding service and operational performance.
  • Encourage staff engagement and professional development.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager to set and achieve team goals.
  • Foster a positive and professional customer experience.
  • Resolve complex customer issues with tact and fiscal responsibility.
  • Support customer retention initiatives.
  • Assess client needs and recommend appropriate financial solutions.


Branch Operations Officer - Leadership & Service Focus



  • Provide operational training, guidance, and development to branch staff.
  • Recognize and celebrate staff achievements in customer service and operations.
  • Actively engage staff in professional growth and goal achievement.
  • Motivate staff to meet and exceed branch objectives.
  • Handle complex customer situations professionally and strategically.
  • Partner with the Branch Manager to implement customer retention strategies.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
Branch Operations Specialist



  • Supervise up to 2 employees.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, training, and performance evaluations for Client Service Representatives and New Account staff.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in performance management and annual reviews.
  • Oversee employee scheduling and ensure accurate timekeeping.
  • Process and submit required reports (Daily Large Transactions, NSF Exceptions, etc.).
  • Approve teller transactions within assigned limits.
  • Provide supervisor overrides when necessary.
  • Support the Branch Manager with various tasks, including client service management in their absence.


Branch Operations Officer



  • Supervise up to 5 employees.
  • Oversee staff training, development, and performance assessments.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in performance management and conducting evaluations.
  • Manage employee schedules and verify timecards.
  • Ensure timely processing and submission of operational reports.
  • Approve large transactions within assigned authority limits.
  • Provide supervisor overrides and support senior management as required.
  • Handle client concerns and operational issues in the absence of the Branch Manager.


Qualifications:
Branch Operations Specialist



  • Minimum 5 years of banking experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of operations experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Notary Public certification preferred.


Branch Operations Officer



  • Minimum 8 years of banking experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of operations experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Notary Public certification preferred.
