If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL as the Financial Manager in the Business, Construction & Facilities Department (BCFD).

In this critical role, you will manage lab-wide benefits plans and ensure financial integrity. You'll lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts, aligning with APL's financial policies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead comprehensive financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting for all lab-wide benefits. Perform variance and trend analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • VEBA Trust & Benefits Accounting: Manage the VEBA Trust, ensuring accurate financial oversight and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Audit & Compliance: Coordinate audit activities and ensure adherence to GAAP, ERISA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Collaborate with Talent Services, Accounting, and consultants to enhance financial reporting and process efficiencies.
  • Executive Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular financial updates and analysis on the Lab's benefits planning data to the CFO, supporting strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, particularly in benefits or compensation.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel.
  • Familiar with financial ERP systems and data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of VEBA Trust and benefits accounting preferred.
  • Experienced with external audits and financial compliance reporting.
  • Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL's facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in process improvement and financial operations automation.
  • Knowledge of HR and benefits administration systems.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
