Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 484 bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of primary and specialty care clinics in Minneapolis and in suburban communities. Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care and hospice, and operates a research institute, innovation center and philanthropic foundation.

SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Wellness Nurse to join our Peds Mobile Health team. This is a casual role.
This is a grant funded role, currently funded through December 2025.
This position pays $27.00/ hr.


Safe delivery of injections at immunization/ vaccine (flu) clinic sites according to HCMC protocol. Assists immunization/ vaccine clients to correctly complete registration/ insurance forms. At clinic sites, manages the traffic flow of clients to maintain on-time appointments and scheduled clinic time. Provide follow -up coaching/ education for participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Demonstrates ability to landmark injection sites and the safe delivery of vaccine/ immunizations according to polices and protocols to clients


  • Possess clinical assessment skills to handle emergency situations; ie adverse reaction to vaccine/ immunization


  • Check registration/ insurance form for completeness and legibility before immunization or screen is administered


  • Able to organize and arrange for a supplies


  • Use of computer to reconcile vaccines (This generates the number and type of vaccinations given)
    Use of computer to scan and electronically administer vaccines


  • Ensures completeness of all forms used at clinic site

    Provide vaccine counseling to clients with questions or concerns regarding vaccines

    Provide vaccine outrich and vaccine reconciliation as needed


  • Provide clinic/ staff feedback to appropriate members of the wellness team


  • Provides oversight/mentoring of PSC's at clinic and wellness site


  • Willingness to learn and perform wellness projects/tests as business needs arise


  • Provide coaching/ education relative to immunizations and other wellness tests and projects


  • Establishes rapport with clients with the purpose of being motivational and help client establish wellness goals


  • When questions arise from clients, responses are in alignment with HCMC training/ protocols/ mission statements


QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/ Work Experience:



  • Previous work history on mobile unit or mobile health programs


    Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college



OR



  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree



  • Experience in immunization and biometric screening clinics

    Previous experience in vaccine reconciliation, outreach and engagement

    Previous experience promoting vaccine confidence in multi-cultural and ethnic populations



Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:


  • Computer skills; access to the internet and email. Email is primary means of communication between wellness services and remote seasonal employees


  • Able to push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds as needed


  • Able to bend, squat and kneel as needed during set-up of clinics.


  • Proficiency in counseling and administering immunizations and manual blood pressure. Willingness to learn to use Cholestech machine, perform glucose testing, calculate body mass index, perform TB lab draw and other projects as needed


  • Must have access to internet and email. Ability to check email daily once hired and provided an assignment


  • Knowledge of computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Windows, Access and Excel


  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Must have computer skills necessary to accomplish requirements of position including word processing, related facility software and internet research tools


  • Must possess speech/sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must be able to sit, stand, use hand to finger, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach with hands and arms, move intermittently, walk up, and down stairs and walk from car to client home in changing weather. Must be able to lift, carry and move equipment or supplies, etc. not to exceed 35 pounds


License/Certifications:


  • CPR/AED and first aid certifications


  • Valid driver's license, and reliable transportation to travel to clinic sites
