Position Summary:

The Business Analyst develops, reviews, and analyzes financial reports; prepares financial analysis to evaluate current and future financial performance; and assists in budgeting and forecasting. This position pro-actively identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement in processes and policies and is responsible for sourcing, compiling, and interpreting key business, operational and statistical data. Supports databasing and archiving of relevant data so that it is readily accessible and reportable. Analyzes performance metrics and generates compliance and other required business reports for leadership. Serves as primary technical support for Purchased Goods team. Participates in technical or functional design of new reporting systems or enhancements to existing applications.

Day in the life: In a typical day, the Business Analyst...



  • Purchased Goods Analysis and Reporting: Partner with Purchased Good team to identify, develop, and implement beneficial process and system improvements. Utilize available systems to design and generate reports that are readily accessible, user-friendly, and value-added.
  • Reports and Analysis: Create, prepare, and analyze reports to monitor accurate financial management of organizational assets.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in in the preparation, analysis, and recording of annual budgets.
  • Donated Goods Analysis and Reporting: Partner with division and department leaders and staff to establish and create reports needed for effectively analyzing results across multiple metrics. Utilize available systems to design and generate reports that are readily accessible, user-friendly, and value-added, providing self-service tools where possible.
  • Project Implementation: In collaboration with the division/department leaders, plans, manage, and direct specific projects from origin through completion. Deliver on statement of work objectives and meets stated project milestones throughout the process.
  • Retail Liaison: Serves as the liaison for Goodwill-Easter Seals functional areas; represents, informs, and educates those areas on retail processes, procedures, and functions to provide clear understanding of the unique aspects of the retail division. Recommends specific courses of action that assist in meeting the expectations and requirements of both retail and the applicable functional area.



Job Pay & Perks:



  • Pay range: $31.47- $42.57
  • This is a flexible-hybrid role whose essential functions allow the employee to primarily work from a personal home office but also require the employee to work at a physical GESMN or partner facility as business needs require, sometimes with great urgency and little notice.

About You:

Required Knowledge & Skills:



  • Significant experience with relational databases, including the ability to write SQL queries.
  • Highly Advanced MS Excel Skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, and macros.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to details and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining appropriate prioritization.
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely basis and meet deadlines.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.


Prior Experience & Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
  • 2-4 Years of relevant experience in finance, report analysis, building and formatting reports using multiple tools and/or application software packages.
  • Experience with DocuPhase and Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.
  • Retail data analysis experience helpful.
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights budgeting software preferred.
