You will collaborate with the Supervisor to ensure the team is meeting department objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for completing your own production objectives as well as steering the team to meet safety, quality, and production goals. Position Details:
- Shift: 2ndShift: Monday - Thursday; 3:00pm - 1:00am
- Pay Range: Up to $25.00/hour (basedupon experience, skill set, and shift)
- Shift Premium: $2.00/hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the manufacturing process for their specific department, including managing production, leading a team of employees, and fulfilling orders to meet production goals and customer deadlines.
- Ensures the production line is a safe working environment and all employees are adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Actively works on jobs by producing parts, performing set-up and adjustments as needed with consistently high quality and efficiency.
- Coordinates production efforts and assigns job tasks to the team.
- Ensures quality standards of the team are met through inspection of department productions, quality of packaging, and through observations.
- Updates information in ERP system for SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) boards and attend daily Gemba walk.
- Monitors productivity and ensures time, labor and quantity entries are accurately entered into the ERP system.
- Completes various production reports and the analysis of efficiency, scrap, downtime, and more related data to pinpoint areas of potential improvement.
- Ensures the completion of all required production paperwork, records, and documentation.
- Assists with onboarding new hires to the production line and ensures a positive employee experience through continuous training and mentoring. This includes regular audits and fully completed training checklists.
- Trains employees when new work is introduced in operations, material usage, quality specifications and production standards; cross training operators for optimum ability to meet production schedules.
- Assists and identifies training needs of the team to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met.
- Takes ownership of safety, quality, and productivity within the department and being a resource for questions or concerns.
- Determines methods and procedures for new assignments and anticipates potential problems with equipment, workflow, materials, and product within all production areas and being proactive with solutions.
- Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed in the responsible areas.
- Understands and ensures company policies and procedures are followed and reports violations or other issues regarding safety, quality, policy, or productivity concerns or updates directly to the Production Supervisor.
- Effectively communicates with other departments via verbal and written means including Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Safety to resolve various types of issues that may arise.
- Participates in group projects applicable to safety, improved productivity and continuous improvement as directed.
- Follows and complies with all lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
- Models the company's core values through demonstrated actions, following established policies and procedures.
- Assigned in other areas of the shop depending on production demand/flow.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 3 years working in the specified department.
- Thorough knowledge of processes and customer specifications.
- Strong personal leadership and communication skills resulting in clear and concise communications delivered in a professional manner.
- Advanced math and measurement skills.
- Understanding of Quality Control (QC) measures including ISO 9001 and 14001.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work plans and execute projects.
- Ability to work well under pressure, handles multiple projects concurrently, and meets project deadlines.
- Basic experience with ERP system.
- Basic knowledge with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of metal fabrication manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing based business systems, MRP techniques, and time based competition and quality strategies and principles such as Lean manufacturing, six Sigma, ISO requirements, etc.
- Experience working in a leadership capability.
- Experience conducting on-the-job training for new hires.
- Previous QC and inspection experience using basic inspection tools at a level to resolve QC problems when a part does not meet specifications.
- Ability to understand moderately complex blueprints and/or specifications.
- Understanding of weld symbols.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Experience with EPICOR/CMS (ERP system).
Physical and Mental Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use foot/feet to operate machinery.
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
- Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, reach above shoulders, and move from place to place.
- Must be able to regularly talk and listen.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
- Travel: Possible domestic travel for training purposes, events, boot camps, and to customer or supplier locations as needed.
