Position Summary: The Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigation Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Lecturer of Forensic Investigation. This is a full-time, nine-month, position starting in August of 2025. We seek someone who can teach either Crime Scene Investigation courses or Criminalistics courses. Candidates should be able to teach some combination of offered courses including Survey of Forensic Sciences. The ideal candidate would be someone who could contribute to curriculum development as we undergo the FEPAC accreditation process. The University of Wisconsin System has a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a demonstrated competency teaching some combination of Forensic Investigation degree core courses (e.g., Survey of Forensic Sciences, Crime Scene Documentation, Forensic Criminology, or Forensic Investigation Research Methods) and either CSI courses (e.g., Crime Scene Documentation, Crime Scene Processing I) or criminalistics-related courses (e.g., Criminalistics, Fingerprinting and other Biometrics). The typical teaching load for a full-time lecturer is 5 courses per semester. Preference will be given to candidates with professional field and/or laboratory experience and to candidates with teaching experience. The candidate is also expected to be an active member of the department by attending meetings and participating in department activities. What You'll Need to Succeed:
Why It's Great to be a Pioneer: The Department of Criminal Justice & Forensic Investigation's Criminal Justice and Forensic Investigation programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Education will have 5 full-time tenure-track positions and regularly employs an additional 8 instructional academic staff. The undergraduate program offers a BA/BS in Criminal Justice (on-campus and asynchronous) and BS in Forensic Investigation. The graduate program offers a MS in Criminal Justice in an asynchronous modality. The Forensic Investigation program has the Forensic Investigation Crime Scene House (FICSH), the Decomposition/Taphonomy facility adjoining the FICSH, a criminalistics/fingerprinting lab, and a dry forensic anthropology lab. With around 290 majors, the Forensic Investigation program is the fourth largest on campus. In February 2025, we applied for FEPAC accreditation for all three of the Forensic Investigation degree emphases (Crime Scene, Medicolegal Death Investigation, and Laboratory). The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, offers 47 baccalaureate and 10 master's programs. It possesses institutional strengths in middle level education, engineering, industrial technology, agriculture, criminal justice and business. The campus is located in Southwest Wisconsin's largest and most historic community.
