Accounting Analyst

Job Description:

Position Overview

The Accounting Analyst is responsible for supporting financial reporting, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with audits, and identifying trends and anomalies in financial performance to support business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts

  • Analyze financial data and create reports for management

  • Reconcile bank statements and other accounts

  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes

  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies

  • Monitor budgets and report variances

  • Conduct cost analysis and profitability reviews

  • Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes

Required/basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related degree

  • One (1) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing MBA, Master's in Accounting

  • Three (3) or more years related work experience

  • Proficient using MS products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Processes and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Experience with financial applications (i.e. PeopleSoft FMIS, Power Plant etc) and query tool (Business Objects)

  • CPA or working towards certification

Working Conditions

  • This position is located in Charlotte, NC

  • This is a hybrid position; employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to the designated office location.
