Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Gift Shop Associate to join our Retail Operations team. This role will be Full-Time, Monday-Friday, every other weekends, hours vary

Job Responsibilities:

The Gift Shop Associate handles the daily operations of the hospital Gift Shop under the supervision of the Gift Shop Manager. Responsible for all sales activities during assigned shifts. Your ability to provide excellent customer service while representing the Gift Shop and Inova in a positive manner.



  • Stocks shelves and other fixtures with merchandise at the direction of the Gift Shop Manager or Merchandise Logistics Lead.
  • Constructs displays and arranges merchandise, as directed, to promote sales or feature particular items.
  • Stays informed of all merchandise, current sales and promotions.
  • Serves as a cashier to accept cash payments and process gift/credit card charges while correctly entering data into the register.
  • Follows established procedures for balancing, handling of all receipts and financial reports, entering data into appropriate systems and completing/submitting required paperwork.
  • Greets and provides assistance to customers.
  • Remains vigilant regarding security and reinforces this requirement with volunteers while recognizing potential theft risks.
  • Locates merchandise requested by customers or suggests possible substitutes while answering customer questions concerning location, price and use of items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Additional Requirements:



  • Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, every other weekends, hours vary
  • Education: High School or GED
  • Experience: 1 year of retail sales experience. Work or volunteer experience requiring excellent customer service.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with onboarding, training and supervising personnel and/or volunteers
  • Experience with online order fulfillment and system support
