Sr. Manager, Inventory Control - Service Location: Greenwood, MS

Milwaukee Tool's service experience is a customer expectation and a competitive advantage. The Service repair hubs are critical to that experience and to maintaining that advantage. Without parts the customer experience suffers, or Milwaukee faces expensive remediations. The Senior Inventory Control Manager's role is to create the culture, team, processes, and infrastructure to ensure the plant always has correct service parts and replacement tools available in the right quantities at the right time.

Your Role on Our Team:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is a key member of plant leadership. It is responsible for leading the team of planners, material handlers, receivers, cycle counters, stock clerks, and other supervisory and hourly employees in the Inventory Management organization. This role will build and continuously develop a team centered on inventory control management expertise and with the depth necessary to support a fast-growing, high-mix Service repairs operation.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain an environment obsessed with the timeliness and accuracy of world-class inventory control organizations.
  • Ownership of staffing at all levels to support inventory functions of the plant.
  • Participate in and ensure proper day-to-day leadership of the production workforce.
  • Continually develop the team, increasing their skills, expertise, and cross-functional expertise.
  • Inventory team development with Talent Development
  • Partner with Talent Development for robust supervisor development programs within Service (including RGA)
  • Mentorship for upcoming inventory management leaders across the service organization (technical and people leaders)
  • Cross-functional mentorship in Inventory Controls best practices
  • Actively networks with inventory leaders across sister facilities under the TTI umbrella to share best practices.

Planning and Procurement

  • Develop and maintain a service ops stocking strategy to drive consistency across the business and continue to provide great customer service.
  • Lead Quarterly Stocking Strategy Summits between Service Hubs.
  • Identify key components for efficient inventory turns and measure success.
  • Ensure automated and manual orders are processed accurately and on time to maintain appropriate quantities in house.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline inventory holdings without sacrificing availability in the plant.
  • Ability to analyze information and communicate with data supported root causes that drive ownership and improvements cross functionally.
  • MRO purchasing to support service hub.
  • Managing VMI vendor relationships.
  • Serve as the planning expert on cross-functional project teams.
  • Monitor slow-moving inventory and obsolescence
  • Drive improvements to achieve inventory goals and reduce obsolescence.
  • Work with distribution and supply chain teams to develop Recovery Plans as necessary.

Inventory Control

  • Efficient and accurate warehouse functions (receiving, stocking, picking, etc.)
  • Develop a long-term slotting strategy and sustainment to drive efficiencies that support top-level metrics and goals.
  • Drive inventory accuracy and quality by providing deep-dive research into discrepancies and anomalies as they occur.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy between multiple inventory systems and resolve system errors to ensure system and physical inventory are in line.
  • Develop and implement quality and productivity expectations and goals for the department.
  • Serve as the inventory operations expert on cross-functional project teams.

Recon

  • Collaborate with the Reverse Logistics business unit to establish tool flow into production for reconditioning.
  • Drive efficient material scheduling to meet production demands.
  • Develop enhanced reporting and metrics to measure success.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain transactional and data relationship between Korber (WMS) and Oracle (ERP)
  • Establish performance requirements, initiatives, and strategies to improve inventory control management.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in sister plants, corporate functions, and the distribution center to propagate best practices across the Service organization.
  • Be an expert in Milwaukee Tool's operating systems (Microsoft AX and High Jump) and play an active role in problem escalations and resolution.
  • Work closely, urgently, and systematically with corporate and distribution center counterparts to resolve transactional and recurring issues that prevent any of the above.
  • Implement a robust process audit regimen to ensure inventory control workers are performing tasks as required. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and training functions to monitor and adjust as needed.
  • Drive down the repair cost by continuously reviewing opportunities to reduce costs related to labor, supply expenditures, process efficiencies, etc.

The TOOLS you'll bring with you :

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in operations or supply chain management, Business, Finance, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • APICS CPIM or similar inventory control management certification is highly desired.
  • 5+ years' experience in inventory control management.
  • Experience in a Service repair environment is highly desired.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade ERP and inventory control software and systems.
  • Expertise with Oracle and/or Korber WMS is highly desired.
  • 3+ years' experience leading people.
  • Demonstrated success in:
  • Maintaining inventory availability and accuracy in a high SKU, high mix environment.
  • Developing and maintaining a high-performing inventory control management team.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS)
