Counselor

Location: Big Stone Gap, VA, Wallens Ridge State Prison is a level 5 prison housing approximately 1,200 inmates. This facility operates a 4- month long Fentanyl Response Program providing substance use disorder services to males identified for treatment.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm with a 1-hour unpaid meal break.

Pay rate: $26.44/hr. ($55,000 annually) Candidates with a CSAC, CADC, or equivalent license/certification are eligible for a pay rate of $28.846/hr. ($60,000 annually.)

The Counselor is responsible for:

• Facilitating group programming and meetings, individual counseling sessions, case management services, and clinical documentation for inmates within the program.
• Conducting comprehensive assessments and individual treatment plans within established timeframes.
• Participating in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, case reviews, and conferences.
• Working closely with the Virginia Department of Corrections personnel to ensure quality delivery of services and promote a healing environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services field is required.
• State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the state of Virginia or similar certification/license recognized by the Virginia Board of Professional Counselors is required within two (2) years of signing job description.
